Hi and welcome to Classic Olds dot com (CO for short)
Post a pic of the VIN and cowl tags, we can decipher them for you. We are picture ****** here. Lets see some pics of your 73.
This question will open up a can of worms as it historically has in past posts, but hopefully all will behave and play well in the sandbox.
Do a Google search. Many times it will bring you back to an archival post here at CO. Google search engine is 10X more powerful that COs.
We have a few resident expert members that are knowledgeable on the Colonades.
The 5th character/digit in the VIN will designate the engine CID the car was born with. However, It will not tell you if its a 442.
You will need the build sheet or window sticker to prove its a Cutlass ordered with the W29 (442) option.
My numbers show a total production run of 1973 442s = 10,137 units.
Specifically:
-model F37 Cutlass Hard top = 15ea, 4 speeds. (both L34 & L75 engines).
-model G37 Cutlass "S" hard top = 871ea, 4 speeds. (both L34 & L75 engines).
Basically anything with a stick in 73 is rare, Cutlass or 442!

Wow. I'd heard the 871 4-speed figure but thought that was total for the base Cutlass and the S. I have once again learned something.
I've seen four 1973 4-speed 442 in my time. All 455s. I have seen one non-442 350/4-speed S and one Supreme.
Apparently the H/Os used the V-code (manual trans) engine with the TH400. Lesser 1973 cars only got the V-code engine with the M20, which was the trans in my friend's 73

I have what I believe is a 1973 442 that should be a 350 4 speed car.
I say should be as when I purchased it in approximately 1988 it had a 350 in it however it was not the correct engine for the car.
If I recall correctly, it was a 1969 350 that I now wish I had kept.
The car is also non air conditioning with a bench seat.
For some reason I seem to remember checking the VIN and thinking it's not an original four speed car but it it's not someone went to a lot of trouble to change it to a 4-speed car.
I haven't looked at the VIN in years as life got in the way of completing the restoration. (At least it has been inside)
Guess I need to have another look.
I do have a 1973 350 that could go in it, just wouldn't be numbers matching.

On a 350 car, the VIN won't tell you if it was a four speed or not. See the VIN graphic I posted above. All the VIN will tell you is 2bbl or 4bbl, single or dual exhaust. (VINs H, J, K, or M).
Joe,
Thanks for the reply.
After looking at the chart a little more I realized what you are talking about.
It would appear that my car is fairly uncommon.
Wish I had the original engine.
I've always wondered how many came off the assembly line with the bench seat (no console) and no air conditioning.
Thanks again.

I don't know about the full size cars, but one of the problems with restoring the Colonnade cars is that the interiors were made from self-destructing plastic. I guess it was biodegradable before that was fashionable.
Hello, gentleman. I'm looking for some parts for 1973 cutlass supreme driver side fender and Passenger fender. And passenger door. Can anyone one help me out?

Probably best to start a thread in "Parts Wanted". This one seems to have pretty much run its course,

Hello, just saw your post. I have a 73 Cutlass Supreme with a 3 speed manual on the column. It was ordered with 350/4bbl AC, Clock, lighting package, Bumper guards, rubber inserts on front and rear bumpers, 323 Posi and factory rear sway bar in Brewster Green with black vinyl top and interior . There can not be too many of these made.

Very cool. The 350 4bbl and column-shifted three speed manual was base equipment on the Supreme in 1973. There couldn't have been many that left the factory that way.
