1972 Cutlass ralley gauge conversion

I’m thinking of updating my 1972 Cutlass Supreme gauge cluster to the ralley pack gauges. Does anyone know if you need to buy the wire harness along with the gauges and conversion kit? Mine currently just has dummy lights so I know I need the conversion kit but not sure on the wire harness. Any help would be very much appreciated!!! Thanks!!!

No, you can simply re-pin the gauge pod connector and add the correct tach wire to the distributor. Look for a "sticky" in the top of the electrical forum.

You will obviously need to add the correct sending units to the engine as well. Also, how "correct" are you looking to go? Cars built after January 72 had a "fasten seat belt" light in a little pod on top of the dash when a rally pack was ordered.

Yeah not worried about the fasten seat belt light. Just looking for a clean setup that gives me actual temperature and oil pressure instead of dummy lights.

Be aware that the Rallye Pac gauges don’t have actual numbers on them, just a needle that points to low, medium, or high, with no real indication of what those mean.

The gauges basically tell you if something is abnormal. Drive the car to get an idea of what the gauges should look like under various conditions. Then you know if the gauges read differently than expected you know something is wrong.

I agree with y'all, the Rallye Pac gives relative readings that can show a deviation from normal. I was replying based on this:

I’ve decided to go with the Dakota Digital as they will give actual readings while still looking relatively stock. Thanks for all the feedback.

Which version? Unfortunately, Dakota Digital does not offer the RTX or HDX for cutlass yet. I do have the VHX in my Vista though and love it. Lots of functionality and super expandable. I have mine measureing fuel pressure, trans temp, power steering temp, and air pressure (air ride) in adddition to the readings it provides right out of the box. Simply takes an added module and sensor for each.
