Rally pack harness non rally pack gauge

I got a rally pack harness didn't realize untill everything was done and my gas gauge was not working
1st should the gas gauge work the same with either harness even though the prongs are different
2nd is there a way to make this gauge work with that harness
The car is not worth spending 500 dollar on a gauge

What car? The gauge and idiot light wire connector is the same, but the wire position is different. I don’t have a manual in front of me to describe the differences, but it’s been covered here before. Use a paper clip or pick to depress the locking tab, remove the wires, reinstall in the correct position, hopefully that gets to going.

It's a 72 Cutlass supreme so the wires are all the same for both gauge just a different orientation

Exactly. I think you need to remove a green/white tracer wire from the ignition switch. On cars with the idiot light there is a “bulb test” position when you turn the key to crank the engine. It temporarily provides a ground to the temp wire to allow testing the bulb. If you leave the wire connected, it will peg the gauge full hot when you turn the key. Probably not that big a deal
