this was the condition on the fuel/oil/temp gauge when i purchased the car ( tach was sold separately ) no instructions...It appears previous owner cut off the original harness and spliced in extensions with loop style connections to wire directly to the studs on back of gauge. furthermore a pin is broke off ( upper left hand corner). also it appears to be missing some resistors also? can this gauge be salvaged?
There a couple easy ways to fix that. Go to a hobby store, or well stocked hardware store, buy some 3 or 3.5 mm screws and nuts, maybe 1/2 inch long. Remove the circuit board from the gauge housing. Put the screws thru the holes in the circuit board, tighten the nuts. Then the factory connector will slip over the screws, and will be much stronger than the factory terminals.
If the factory connector is mossing, go to your nearest salvage yard and get a 10 cavity male and female connector. Get a few of them, get as much wire as possible. It’s very simple to remove the terminals from the connector body, if you shop carefully you could find connectors with the correct colors to match GM wire colors for function ( gray=dash lamps, green=coolant, blue=oil pressure, etc) solder the wires to the circuit board, put the matching connector on the dash harness, reinstall the gauge, plug in the new gauge harness.
If if you don’t have a salvage yard nearby, The Electrical Depot sells the connector bodies and terminals. Metra-pac 10 cavity 150 series connector bodies Metra-PAC series 150 terminals, male/female
Loose pins on the PWB is an all-too-common problem on the Rally Pacs. One easy fix is to use an appropriately sized machine screw and nut to replace the missing pin. This will allow the factory plug to still be used.
thanks guys.......i've searched the car for the factory plug with no success. There is a car shop nearby that deals strictly in older camaro parts. They have tons of stuff laying around and they just might have a old connector. If thats a dead end, i'm thinking of replacing all of the pins with machine screws and nuts, then wiring direct. i have nothing to lose. i will keep you updated
If you're looking for the factory connection on the back of the gage, I have a spare one that's on the back of a 70-72 rallye pac gage. The pattern looks identical to your 68/69 gage. If you're interested send me a PM.
Here are a couple pics of what I have. LMK if it's what you're looking for. All contacts are clean and intact. You'd have to solder the wires to your own harness as the pigtail is only about 8" long.

i might take you up on that. im checking a local shop tomorrow....would you happen to have any of these too ? im looking for 2-3
You're missing only 2 of those bridges, but also 3 of the plastic protectors and some of the gray plastic post caps. This gage has them, but is missing 2 of the gray caps. I'm not selling this gage, just using it as an example of what you're looking for.
Pin replaced and old pin resoldered. Found a 8 pin connector thanks to Allan. Now working on hunting down the missing resistors. Anybody off hand know the ohm rating for these ?
Scored some resistors. Made a few protectors out of scrap plastic. Checked for continuity on all circuits. Took the dremel tool and ground down the threads on the replacement pin. The fiitment should be close. Harness is on its way. A special thank you to Allen.
