Hello, my first time on any forum so upfront I apologize for anything misspelled or wrongly done. So I just bought a 71 442 and found the build sheet whitch shows a L32 455.
I be leave this may be a sx because I found all the sx trim in the car and all holes drilled on car are for sx.
what is extreamly strange is my car has the rounded rear fenders like the (s) model and the sx only came in the supreme body.
also strange that my vin starts with a 344 whitch would indicate a 442.
can I get some help. I have the intire build sheet.
feel free to send me a message to sscottdeck@gmail.com
wow I sure apreciate your guy's response so quick.
here are some pics of car as requested.
no sheet metal has been replaced. Car was owned by same guy for 40 plus years. All I can figure is somone wanted to make it look like as sx because both front fenders, doors, and quarters are all drilled for the moldings.

Unless he was original owner or knows the car back to day one, you have to take that claim with a grain of salt. I think the car either suffered a front end hit early in life or fenders were replaced due to rust. 44 in VIN indicates 442 and SX were built only as a 4200 Supreme.
But don't let this keep you from enjoying your car.

I've had many classics and this thing is original through out but they must have drilled holes. Original door sticker in jam. Anyhow I do realize now its definitely a 442 and a 68 blue printed and balanced motor. isent a bad year 455 to have. I have alot of the original intake and carb if anyone is in need. Also have the sx parts
Hey Scott, are you sure it is SX trim, any pictures of the trim? I ask because some of the side trim uses studs welded to the body to hold the clips that hold the trim. I don’t see any studs in your pictures. A short self tapping screw can do the same thing but that would obviously have been added later and not factory installed. I could be interested in some of the extra parts. Where are you located? Thanks.

I don't think 442 engines were "blueprinted." What, if any, extra machining occurred in Lansing was done on the W-30 and W-31 engines.

Parts are located in Bakersfield, I'm also going to let go some 442 original equipment.
