1970 w30 gold on gold
Some of you may recall I bought a complete, tad rough 70 4 speed W30 4 years back. Had the original numbers block came with it, just not in car, had the factory carb, dizzy etc. only thing missing was alternator, water pump and radiator. Well I welded in a fixed both lower front fenders, cut out and welded in a new outer wheel house and the rear drivers side wheel lip. I bought a repop quarter and cut out only what I needed. I pulled the engine and rebuilt it with the factory original block, found a correct alternator and water pump. Lots of misc items fixed and worked on. It was featured on Muscle Car Campy you tube channel in June. I have since had it completely repainted, just got it back Saturday. She is looking good, 100% correct car withstanding the radiator..been a lot of work but have truly enjoyed every moment of it. Being retired gave me plenty of time to do lots of work..by the way, she still runs great on points and that original distributor!! Code 58 burnished gold. Still trying to decide whether to paint the wheels argent, leave alone or go to SS1’s. The car came from factory steel wheels and caps..

Nice work. Congrats on a hard job well done!
PS -- I'd go with SS I's just because the SS II thing is kind of done to death. If you decide to stick with the SS II's I think they look better in body color, even if it's not correct.

Get some pads on those pedals. I still have a ding in an ankle from slipping off of one like that and getting bit.
I'm not sure what to recommend on rims. The option loadout on the car is interesting, so it's not a low option stripper, nor is it a convertible automatic AC car with everything. Don't do wires. I wouldn't bother painting the rims. Are you going to show the car in a serious manner? If so, get correct wheels, put repro bias on them and maintain two sets of rims with tires by keeping these as is to drive for fun, and the concours rims in the garage.
As the man from Vancouver said, the SSIIs are overdone. I like the no trim ring SSIs. They're not for '70 though. Poverties are always nice, if yours was a post, I'd recommend that. I guess, since you have them, do up the SSIs.

Very nice restoration!
Do you have before pix to share?
IMO I like the sea of gold. It screams 70s.
SS3s belong on 70-77s. Just cuz I grew up looking at them is my reason. Never get tired of that design.
SS1s are cool on the older cars.
SS2s go good on certain colors, gold isn't one of them IMO.
Maintaining a couple sets is cool as you can switch it up.
If those SS3s are 15" and you want to dump them Id be interested.

Yes, Florida traffic blows.
I drove my H/O last week with its old bias tires. Car has a hooking problem, lol. I'm debating on the repro Kelsey Coker Goodyears or going with Diamondbacks which are BFG Radial TAs.
So, Andy, if you rock the poverties....gold wheels or black wheels?
I am not one for judged shows, but it was a thought. I have another set of SSIIs for my 68 that I might gin up into show wheels. Need rings and caps. I am trying to get a H/OCA sticker: "Join the H/OCA: We Don't Judge!"

The current Cooper cobra tires on the car is about all that you can get in 14 inch radials, unless you go with the redline ones you’re talking about

Well Diamondback will do whatever you want.
So, stock, from factory, A body poverties were always body color. Except maybe the cop cars, which, I am sure, some part of a cop car paint scheme was usually black, plus I think they were 88s. You can paint them gold, but you have to paint match well. You can paint them black, but the car might look like an undercover cop car at the wheel level.

great question on body colored steel wheels or black, i’ve been told that in 1970 the steel wheels were body color however I watched a car on bring a trailer that was us like 6000 mile original W30 that sold and it came with black wheels and hubcaps and it was burnished gold as well so I’m a little confused. Do you know which ones the correct answer? When you look one up on the Internet, it usually has body colored steel wheels but heck I’m just not sure 100%.

Hi Andy,
Man, that is a beautiful car! I am a sucker for gold with black trim on these cars. If we're voting on wheels, I'd say first off make sure they're 15's. 14's may be original but they looked too small even when these cars were new. I'd go SSI, if it were me. I think the poverty cap look is a little played but lots of people still like it.
By the way, the block that came out of that car is very close to getting its second lease on life via Mark

I'm not too fond of the tread pattern on-to the sidewall on the diamonds. They look like snow tires IMO.
Do the Coopers and turn the black wall out. Lost my taste for BFGs even though they stood behind the brown letters. The warranty replacements browned too. I had to paint them white. They are ready next year or two for replacement...already!
