Amazing! Beautiful car but those factory exhaust pipes had some awful bends, especially on the drivers side. We the original pipes that constrictive? OMG!

Very nice car!! I think that "Z" code has to do with a deluxe interior trim option?. 442s had the chrome backing plates behind the armrests & woodgrain dash trim that were optional on others. I think there was a thread on here about the Z code awhile back.

Yeah, there's a long thread on the Z code here but it's an ongoing discussion with no clear resolution or agreement reached yet. I have a '70 Cutlass S with the Z code...what items would be part of a deluxe interior trim option?

The OP's W30 is a beautiful car and looks like it was a major task to get it to the current state!

Thank you The shop (Garner Customs and Restorations) picked her up Sept 18, 2018. Nov 13, she went into the shop. She was completed and returned to Pittsburgh Sept 24th 2019. This past November they took her to MCACN where she took Concours Gold.
The entire restoration process is detailed here https://www.facebook.com/1970442W30/

The resto thread was not mine. I've been absent for awhile now. The whole process took just about a year. Every pic can be seen here. It was a full restoration. https://www.facebook.com/1970442W30/

If the info I've gleaned from my sources and these forums, she's a first week production car. ✌🏼🏁😎

Looks great. Wanted to ask how did you paint the strips on. I am getting close to paint mine 1971 442. I wanted to paint all parts off but can’t line up the strips. The only thing I can think is paint all off. Then put together and then paint the strips on and clear again. I just don’t want no build up on the jams.

What a complete waste of an awesome car. I do not and never will understand that mentality. Period. LAME. Go buy a Chevette.

The car was restored by Garner in Florida. You can check their FB page out for pics of the process. Or go to my designated page for the restoration on FB. It's simply

Pretty sure when the cars were built, the stripes went on after panels were aligned. I think to get an accurate positioning of the stripes, they will have to be applied after paint. Im thinking you could do one coat of clear then sand with maybe 1000 grit, mask off stripes and paint then finish with another 1-2 coats of clear?
