1970 Cutlass trunk light - correct one?

I've read through every thread I can find regarding the trunk lights for the 1970 Cutlii but haven't gotten my answer just yet. One thread mentioned that early '70 models could have a round style mercury switch light. The rest of the threads I found were mainly associated with finding the proper mounting of the hinge-triggered light. When I got my '70 Rallye, it had a round style light mounted in the trunk (late January '70 build date). I replaced that light with a "regular" hinge bracket mount light, but it's always bothered me that maybe I pulled out the original trunk lamp and replaced it with the wrong one. Are there others out there with the round trunk light on their '70, or did I do right by replacing it with the newer style?

Agreed. My 70 Supreme was built in Feb and had the hinged light.

Maybe it depends on where it was built? I know Fremont built cars, being a BOP factory would be slightly different then say Lansing built cars. Oval or round lower front control arm bushing come to mind.

You may be right. To fill in all the details, my 70 Supreme with the hinged light was built in Fremont.

Mine was a Lansing car - so much is right and so much is wrong with this car, but it's little things like this that drive me nuts. Why would the PO even bother to install the more difficult mercury light, especially when he had to drill two screw holes and thread the wire through the lid? But there have been other weird things on this one that make me not even question the weirdness. I know the car came from a collection, and I bet he grabbed what he had on a shelf and put it on, not really caring that the car was "right", just that it functioned and worked as it should.
