Still looking for someone who has the correct 70 Olds 350 gold engine paint. I got some from a vender, that I tought would be correct, but it is not..image shows factory paint on fuel pump to what I have now....I compaired the paint left on the fuel pump to paint under a pully bolt..and they match, so tis the correct factory color..and it even has aslight gloss to it....so anyone out there found the correct paint for these olds 350...thanks again

I used Fusicks, and am happy. You have to remember that the new paint has not seen the heat, grime, and years that the original has.

 

Ive tried all of the others and this one is the real deal. It's a dead on match!

I plan on going out to the garage Monday and touching up the paint on the heads. I'll take a few shots then so you can see the match between them and the original paint on the valve covers that were never repainted.

Just got finished touching up the heads and took these pix. The previous ones were taken with the paint burned off after driving it all last season. Not exact match but a lot better than hirsh brilliant gold. It'll darken some after it cures and is subject to heat.

That paint looks like a great match. I had sprayed another Olds engine with Plasikote Gold and it had way too much metallic in it. I'm going to order some tomorrow.

this is another engine painted with the Eastwood gold.

 

No way does that pix look like the current Eastwood gold. They must have not perfected it then. The ceramic gold is new for them. Whatever is in the picture looks too yellow. Remember that spraying will make a paint appear darker than brush touchup anyway.

 

My valve covers have the same paint on them as when I bought the car 16 years ago. I don't know whether or not they were repainted but I've tried to match the touchup paint I use on the heads with the covers as closely as I could. When the car is in the sun with the hood up, you can hardly tell the difference The angle of the heads make the paint almost an exact match to the covers.

 

I used Por 15 on my engine, here is what it looked like.

I think I'm pulling my 350 this winter and cleaning and painting it to get it ready to sell.

 

It most certainly does. they say that it wont burn off. I have not had mine running long to verify this because I am still restoring the car. here is their site. I also used their manifold paint on my exhaust manifolds. I used their paint on my frame because I did a frame off.

Looking for some tips on what I need to remove to paint the engine.

1. I'm going to yank it out ,
2. DP Engine Degreaser on it,
3. Power Wash it.
4. Then prep it for paint with Eastwood's PRE solution.

I just don't know exactly what I should remove off the engine to make it easier.
Carb, Starter, Plugs + wires, and Headers is a given. Anything else ??
Did you guys remove your pulleys and flywheels too ??

Any tips on what would make this a HELL of alot easier would be appreciated.
I was also looking at the High Temp silver manifold paint from Eastwood after Sandblasting them.

Anyone used it and have opinions or something better ???

 

i get the gold from supercars unlimited,i believe fusick has the same

 

i use VHT aluminum 1500 degree header paint

it's a nice aluminum hue,with a touch of metallic in it

i also use Seymour Alumi Blast for the flat aluminum look,but it is harder to find locally

 

I was told to have my Performer intake blasted ......

Not sure if that's the best method to bring it back to that clean aluminum look.
It's kinda dirty and has oil deposits on it. Looking to clean it up as well.

Any suggestions ??
