1969 442 judging question ..what would you do ?

Hi ! I'm having my 69 442 judged for the first time next week on sept 7th at the Northeast Zone Show in PA hosted by Delaware Valley Olds Club. What would be the least amount point deduction on the wheels ? The SS1 wheels with the BFG's or the poverty caps with the radial redline Firestone wide oval GR70-14 redlines. I know the stamped wheels should be body color green but I purposely wanted them black because I feel it would be too much green . Its a triple green car .....whatch ya think ? I like both looks but since first time getting car judged, Id like to go with least point deduction . I have a SS1 spare with bias white wall in the trunk . Thank you !

Go with SS1 and red line radials is the way to go IMO

Been awhile since judged a local show, but if I was judging, I would probably deduct about 1- 2 points per wheel. I bet at a local show, you may find the guy judging may not even catch the wrong color? I also like the SS1 wheels better.

You'll get a deduction for the black wheels and you'll get a deduction for the BFG radials. Pick your poison.

... unless you mount the redlines on the SS I's.

Also, on the off chance you have paperwork showing how it was originally ordered, you could go with that.

EDIT: Beautiful car, BTW. I think you'll do well.

I'm assuming the OP doesn't particularly want to pay to mount and balance eight tires and wheels just to avoid loosing 5-10 points.

Well then, it's all about level of commitment, isn't it?

To answer the OP's original question, what I would do is whatever makes me happy and not have my car judged - which, incidentally is exactly what I'm doing at that show next weekend.

I need to get some H/OCA bumper stickers saying WE DON'T JUDGE.

My 69 H/O has been called a "Judge" more times than I care to remember. Of course, one co-worker found out how much that pi$$ed me off and really leaned into it.

So, SS I's and BFGs? Pleased to see yours (unlike my own) are not of the brown-letter variety.

Maybe you should get rid of those trunk stripes.

As a member of the DVOC, I'm sure you'll meet new people and, especially, see some beautiful cars. As several have said, what makes you happy works.
There will be everything from race cars and pace cars, to one of Joe P's classics, to a fairly decent (but totally unloved) '74 Salon.
I think you'll do well, and we appreciate your coming out!
