Question for all 1968-1972 Cutlass or 442 Owners- What is the correct color for the front filler fender to side metal baffle? The best I can describe them is they are the two steel filler (90 degree flat steel curved panels) that surrounds the outer headlights on the top and side. They bolt to the fender using the steel eye brow studs. Once the fender is installed they bolt to the radiator support.


I've heard they were painted dull aluminum, yet others say they were the same color of black as the radiator support. Still others insist they were the color of the car. Any thoughts are appreciated. If you by chance have a 1972 442 that is original paint please look and let us know. Thank You!

68 & 69's are Krylon Dull Aluminum. I can't speak for the other years

70 is also argent. I believe 71 and 72 are body color. Haven't heard of any that were black.

Thanks for the replies. I contacted one of the judges from Oldsmobile Club of America. Here's his email response: "the fillers are silver on 69-70 and they are body color on 71-72 if they were nos or from the factory they would come semi gloss black coated and then the front side would be painted. and there would be light over spray on the back as they were not taped off."
