The dynamic should have a 394 engine, based on the earlier 303, 324, 371. The Jetstar 88 will have the 330 engine. If the engine is original, the 330 will have 10 bolts with 3/8" head for each valve cover, and the intake serves as the valley cover. On the earlier engine, the valley cover is stamped steel and under the intake. The early engine has a water neck with only the radiator hose on it. The 330 and later engines have a bypass hose also on the water neck.

Dynamic or Jetstar, still a very cool car to own. Quick way to determine what you have- does the trans selector say P NDSL R or Park R N D L ? 1st is a HydraMatic which is what Dynamics had, second is Jetaway which was installed in J-88 and Cutlass.

Even though I used to look down my nose at a J-88, anymore I think they're probably the ones to have because if either the engine or trans goes, a 65-later engine or trans will drop right in without all the boolcaca involved in rebuilding a 394 or SlimJim, or trying to adapt later mechanicals to either one.

Still hard to like those small brakes though!

Now to your topic- what do you need to know? I have a pair of 64 Starfires and a ton of sales/service literature, plus plenty of beat-me-up time with them.
