Does anybody know a source for original radiator codes?

Good morning Olds people, I've got a question I'm hoping someone can help me with. I know the radiators from 1968-72 had both a metal tag clipped on the radiator and numbers/letters pressed into the tank. I've got someone looking for an original 4 row radiator for their project and I'd like to help him out. But first I need to make sure I'm not selling something I need for one of my project cars. My long term goal is to make my 1968,69 and 70 cars as original as possible and someday I'll be looking for the correct radiator for each of them. I'm not the most organized person in the world and I've been tucking extra radiators up in the rafters for years. By now I don't remember what I pulled them out of. Does anybody know of a reference that would tell me what radiator code these years of 442's would have come with? Thanks! John

I can get you the 70-73 codes out of my 1974 parts book. It doesn't have codes earlier than 1970 though it gives part #s as far back as 1961.

Rocketraider if you would have the time to look up and post the 1970 codes I'd appreciate it! John

Radiator codes in parts books? I don't find any of the codes there. They are in the Product Information Manuals (Assembly Manuals). I don't have '70 and newer, but for instance in '69 for the 442 they are:
Y72 ED
V01, C60 EC
V02 FE
M40 FB
Std. FA

Kurt, for the 1969 can you tell me which code would be on the metal tab and which one would be stamped in the radiator tank? Thanks! John

That should be the code on the metal tag. Codes in the "books" should be for particular applications, and the same tank could be used for different applications. The tag code should be for the application.

Well that's interesting. The only parts books I have that have those charts are ones dated 1973 and newer, and the charts only go back to 1970, too. I never noticed the charts before, because all the parts books dated '72 and before don't have them!

Took the tag off the radiator from my 1970 442. Now can't remember how far down the side it goes. Can anyone give me a hand?

Are they they in the same place as the 69? If so, I'll go measure my original rad in the shed.

Appears it's about 5.5" below the centerline of the upper transmission cooler port. I know it doesn't quite look like it, but it's the angle of the pic is messed up. Or just count the ribs in the side tank. Hope this helps.

Never mind. But if anyone was actually wondering, there's your answer.
