1964 Cutlass timing tab marks
1964 Cutlass timing tab marks
I've searched and cannot find the answer to this question:
On a 1964 Cutlass, 330 4bbl V8, which mark do I set the timing to?
There are notches on the edge of the tab and holes near the leading and trailing edges. I didn't see anything on the tab indicating TDC, 4 deg, 8 deg, etc. Now that I have a new balancer/damper, I'd like to check the timing.

Also, I assume you got a correct, one-year-only 1964 balancer, since the timing mark (and tab) on the 1964 330 is in a different place than on every other Olds V8.
The oval hole and the rectangle do look like the number 10, in an art-deco kind of way.
As for the balancer, I believe it's the right one. I'll know for sure when I check the timing.
.
thanks.
