1963 F-85 buying help!

Hey everyone. I just looked at a 1963 F-85 in pretty decent shape. Faded paint, minor rust but all there. After decoding the VIN/serial, the car is a F-85 Deluxe and the body tag is that of a Cutlass.

The problem I have with this is that the Cutlass was only available with the 215, with the 4 barrel. HOWEVER, the car I looked at was equipped with a 215 cubic inch 2 barrel carb. The owner pulled it from a barn where it had sat since 1985 and he did not know much about the car. I couldn't find any indications that the motor had been switched.

Did a previous owner swap out the 4 barrel engine and put in the base F-85 engine? Could someone have ordered a Cutlass with the 2 barrel engine? What type of value would this car be worth?

Any info would be great and I know this is the place to get it!

Maybe someone swapped out the intake and carb during one of the gas crises? I wouldn't think at this point that alone would affect the value of the car too much. Easy to put a 4 barrel back on.

Good point and it would be easy to put a 4 barrel on except I'm not even sure it is the high compression motor. I will be seeing the car again soon to grab the numbers off of the motor.

Is there any dead giveaway to tell if the engine has been swapped on these cars?
