1949/50 hood with plexiglass insert value

Any idea of the value of one of these hoods. I do not know if it is a 49 or 50, but it is NOS. An Olds friend has this and was asking me about the value. I have no idea. Any input appreciated.

I don't know if you can still view this, but I had it on my watch list. Described as a 1949 NOS hood, price $795. It doesn't say it sold, but says its no longer available. Seller was k.weaverfamily

I think one of those NOS hoods would be worth way more than $795. I think Tedd is right in that you put it on ebay with a higher reserve and see what it brings. Of course that may not be the best place to sell it. I am just guessing that it should be worth $1500 - $2500. Part of the problem is there are not as many people with 49-50 Oldsmobiles. They are unique items that were used by dealers to show the new OHV V8.

I know where a hood is. With the double clear view hood. A guy is using it for wall art. I don't think he would sell it. Everything he sells is priced way to high.

Yea there are two styles, one liked pictured in the above Ebay sale and the other with two clear panels. They would be very cool on a show car but not practical on a driver in my humble opinion.... Tedd

I'll admit I've never tracked prices on these hoods, but my impression is that there are more hoods out there than there are people who actually want to put one on their car. Other than owning one as a curiosity, I can't image they're worth all that much.
