12 bolt rear end locks up in reverse

hello everyone, my 12 bolt 3:23 rear end will not spin in reverse. now this rear end sat for a long time. I took off rear pan and cleaned out old gear oil and sprayed the gears clean and put new oil in. now when I try to spin in reverse direction the gears are locking up. I know when I rolled this car off the trailer it worked fine. what could be the problem? I don't understand why it wont spin. thanks

Is this in a car,or out,and spinning by hand? Is there any debris on the teeth?Even a papertowl can cause it to bind real bad.Has it ever been serviced or rebuilt?

In my '77 Trans Am, similar problem turned out to be brake shoes binding. Disregard my comment if this is not a complete rear end drum-to-drum.

the rear end is out with no brake hardware. I turn it by hand but sometimes I can kinda finesse it to go but somethings is obviously wrong. I guess im gonna have to ruin the $20 gasket and get into the gears again.

I don't believe its been serviced. the car had only 80k on it. I was wondering if when I sprayed it with carb and or brake cleaner that maybe that ruined something

Very few bushings and bearings are fans of degreaser.
