1990 vs 2014

The same week I got my Rallye 350 (I was 15 years old) I drove this car to my grandparents house and she took this picture. It was 1990.

Now it is 24 years later and I took it to my grandparents house again for pictures. Same spot. It made my Grandmothers day to have here take this new picture. She is 83 and still gets around and as healthy as she was 24 years ago. She took the first picture and she took the last picture of it while I had it. The trees in the background are bigger. The one with a fork looking through the windshield of the 1990 pic and then the new picture it is just above the driver side mirror.

You look at these cars, well kept, and you say, it hasn't changed, and it's true, but when you see that everything else has, it takes on a different meaning.

About the only thing I see changed is you, the trim rings taken off the wheels and rubber changed to black wall instead of white letters.

Cool picture story Eric! So happy to hear that your Mom hasn't lost her youth. That's so important as we age. She still takes a great picture BTW!!

Great photos and time machine travel!
I enjoy the "then and now" picture sets and often do them myself.

That's cool.

I don't have such pics, Wish I did. They are worth a thousand words ain't they!

Weather its this car or that car, the fact you have something to go on is priceless.

I can't find the pic of my car the day I drove it home, It's got to be here some where.

It's a very cool picture comparing today with the past. It is also great to see you still have the same car. Many folks tend to get bored with their cars, no matter how nice they are, and they sell them off or trade them in for something different. I am gald to see you hung onto your Rally 350.

Thanks for sharing. It will make some nice memories for the future when dementia sets in.

I sold it Friday. I will be keeping it till late April but it is paid in full. As much as I want to keep them all it was time to let this one go. It had become neglected and was only going to go down hill with me not doing anything with it. I will be getting another Oldsmobile soon but till then I still have the Jetfire and the W-30 to finish building.

Great idea Eric. I, for one, am VERY GLAD you got your car sold and REALLY got paid!!! I know it was a tough decision for you and all the BS associated with selling a car sometimes can be stressful. Now, turn the page and start a new chapter...............

And I just reviewed the pics and noticed that the bumper bolts were yellow way back when.

Great pic

Eric:
That's a great set of pictures. They made me think of my first car (a '71 Cutlass ragtop), and how I sold my last Cutlass (my avatar pic) 16 years ago, and now I'm back and building another convertible with my son! I got a little lump in my throat. Very cool pics.

Dave,
I have a picture of this car in it's original paint and they were the stainless capped bolts. When I got the car it had been painted and they painted over the capped bolts. If a Rallye 350 had painted bolts it had a differant bolt than the capped bolts. The head of the original painted bolts were a little taller and rounded out a little farther. Most were painted and there is no documents to prove that some came with stainless capped bolts but there sure were some.
