HEI with factory tach

Greetings. I have a '72 H/O with a GM HEI and was wondering if there are any wiring modifications to hook it up with a factory tach? Can i connect the tach lead strait to the "tach" terminal on the distributor? Thanks.

x2 I did the same thing on my `72 LeMans. I added a factory repro. tach while I still had points. I converted to HEI with no issues, other than the tach itself reading slightly (50-100rpm) high. I doubt the ignition is to blame. To paraphrase a quote from a wise man here (J-Chicago), GM gauges are hardly precision measuring devices.
