Hi all, I have a factory original 307 in my '82 OCC, and since I got it running again this year the "Low Coolant" warning light has been on and beeping nonstop. I've read some of the other threads on here about the coolant sensors on the 307, and given my coolant levels are fine and I've not seen any leaks, I'm assuming it's a bad sensor. Unfortunately I'm having a heck of a time actually finding where the level sensor is so I can test it. I haven't yet picked up the official CSM, so I'm just trying to figure things out with third-party books which aren't getting me far. I replaced the temp sensor in the manifold since the connector was broken, but I'm wondering if the other sensor plugged in next to it (see photo) is the level sensor, or just a second temperature sensor? The connection was fairly corroded and I've cleaned it up since then, but still no luck with the warning light.
I've also replaced the original corroded copper radiator with an all-aluminum one from Champion, in case that would be a factor.
Thanks for your help.
The optional coolant level sensor screws into the radiator, not the intake.
The device you have labeled "COOLANT TEMP SENSOR" is the sensor used by the ECU.
The device you have labeled "COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR?" is the switch for the HOT light on the dash.
Here is (what I believe was) the original radiator. Is there a specific area the sensor usually screws in? And then if I simply want to disable the dash warning & chime, what is the safest way to go about it?
