Wiring harness 57

Howdy,

I'm considering tackling a replacement of all or most of the wiring in my 57. I have numerous issues with dash, dome, and other lights coming on and off
randomly and very dim lighting on all my instruments. The wiring appears to be quite brittle; not surprising for a car this old, and I see a lot of DIY splicing and taping under the dash.

If it's not already apparent I'm largely a novice when it comes to the electrical side of things. Is replacing the harness the obvious choice, and if so can anyone tell me how difficult this is (I AM mechanically inclined, just not experienced in this particular job) and if I purchase the harness is it all inclusive or will I need other wiring/parts as well? Thanks!

I just replaced the harness in my 57 super 88 and it went quite well, I purchase my harness from American Auto Wire, had to buy new headlights wiring harness separate, also had to buy the rubber grommet where the main wiring harness goes thru the firewall. You can purchase it at Fusick..com. Hope this helps.

Thanks Sid, I really appreciate it. Did you find that everything was well marked and easy to follow, or did you have to figure it out as you went?

57 wiring harness

The harness is just like the org and color coded as the one you will take out. I found to be fairly easy.
