wire harness
wire harness
i am currently installing under dash harness in 69 442 ,i found two wires near tilt column one is orange w/black the other is pink the ignition switch has two male connectors on one end but not sure if they get connected to this
There are minor differences between the 69 4-4-2 regarding wiring from all other 69 A-Body wiring.
Why not look here and evaluate the color wiring diagram for the 1969 V8 A-Body...
A picture of what you're viewing would assist, as well.
1969 Wiring Diagrams
If the orange/ black and the pink are in a single 2-wire connector, they are for the gas pedal activated kickdown switch on a TH400 transmission. Cars not equipped with a TH400 (manual trans or TH350) still have the connector in the harness, it is just taped up out of the way and not used.
I think Tom (Loaded68W34) is correct regarding wire/function, but not the single two-wire connector; I also believe the OP (Jerryl) is correct regarding two single-wire connectors.
With no first-hand experience involving the TH400 transmission wiring; yet, having reviewed the wiring diagrams between 1968 - 1972 & recalling several previous discussions pertaining to the TH400 downshift solenoid note the following:
JoeP >>> th400 kickdown solenoid check
Recall introduction of the TCS (Transmission Control Solenoid) beginning 1970. The delta in wiring exists w/ the introduction of the TCS where the connector wiring contained two single-wire connectors prior to the TCS and a single double-wire (two terminal) case connector post-1969.
Black w/ single Orange stripe is for the pedal activated (downshift solenoid) kick-down switch if equipped w/ a TH400 transmission - if no TH400 the connector is not connected but left up under the dash in the area of the column.
The pink wire I'm not 100%. I suspect it's either the IGN SW (pink wire) or the Parking & Low Brake Warning Lamp instrument cluster wire which feeds from the (if equipped) TH400 transmission switch; I suspect the latter.
End of day, I believe the 1969 (if equipped w/ TH400) had independent single-wire connectors. Hang tight, someone w/ specific/more knowledge will validate/invalidate.

Actually that would be Transmission Controlled Spark, used 1970-72. The addition of the federally-mandated EGR for the 1973 model year replaced the TCS system as an NOx reduction method.
