This wire

This wire


I changed my ignition and ignition switch and noticed this wire dangling, as you can see it’s an orange wire connected to a brown wire, my car is a 67 f85 330 v8 Any help would be appreciated,thanks again.

It looks like it's an accessory item. Looking at your fusebox, I would disconnect the battery and give those contacts a serious cleaning.

Just to clarify photo view, is the orange wire cut or does it go to the back of the fuse box??? X2 that it may be an accessory wire...

The orange wire comes out of the wire harness and that wire is connected to the brown wire.

If that brown wire goes through the firewall and into the engine compartment, it could very well be the hot connector for your underhood light.

Orange is 12V power all the time with the key off. Yellow is key on 12V. The orange wire goes to clock, cigarette lighter, glove box light, map/dome lights and courtesy lights. When using an aftermarket radio, connect orange to the memory wire. White is ground wire for dome and courtesy light switches.

Not sure why a brown wire is attached to it. Might be someone had gotten creative at some point. There is a brown wire that plugs into the HVAC, but it is clearly not to be plugged into an orange wire.
