Wipers won't turn off on 1962 Dynamic

I replaced the wiper switch on my '62 Dynamic 88 but the wipers still won't turn off. I can hear the switch engaging or disengaging something under the hood but nothing happens? Could this be a bad wiper motor?

Thanks...

The 65 chassis manual has a very good section to trouble shoot wiper motor. Do'nt know if 62 is the same, but check manual.

I had a 60 Chevy years ago that did that. Sometimes hitting the right bump in the road would jar it and it would shut off. Ended up replacing the wiper motor on that one. Got a rebuilt one thru NAPA.

That was also my very first experience with clutch head or sometimes called butterfly head screws. Had to go back to NAPA that afternoon to get the special screwdrivers to get the motor off.

You can grind a regular screwdriver to fit those - just make it tight, side to side!

That would have worked except the wiper motor attaching screws were upside down, up under the cowl, and as I recall pretty hateful to get to even with the right tool.

Anyway, I found those screwdrivers to be useful on Holley carbs as well so they weren't a total waste of money.
