85 delta 88 wipers won't shut off

The wipers on my 85 delta 88 won't shut off unless the ignition switch is 1st turned off. The wipers work fine in all modes otherwise. What the problem?

Did you replace the switch already?

Your switch could be going bad.
There could be a grounding in the lead wire from wiper terminal 1 to the wiper switch.
The wiper terminals could just be corroded, and in need of cleaning.
Your circuitboard could be dirty or starting to fail.

Are you holding the wash lever forward for a long period of time?
The circuit board will count the number of seconds that you held the washer lever down, add 6 seconds to it.... and then continue to cycle until it's prescribed time is finished.

So if you were out of fluid and holding the button down trying to squeeze out that last little bit....

Is the plug tight in the wiper motor.

Had the same problem, but a new plug (junkyard) fixed that right up.

Still have the problem with the "washer" switch, but I don't use that
