Wiper switch only works when I push it in

I have a 67 442. Haven't used the wipers in years since the car hasn't been in the rain. This past fall we did a show and it rained on the way home. Turned on the wipers and nothing in either position ( 2 speed).Push the **** in as if to use the washer and the wipers worked twice. As long as we kept pushing the washer the wipers worked twice. Naturally, there was a lot pushing. Does it sound like switch needs to be replaced?

The wiper motor has 12v on it when the key is on through the yellow wire. The light blue (low speed) and the black (high speed) wires supply ground from the wiper switch to for the wipers to work. The dark blue is the washer circuit. You need to make sure that the wiper motor is seeing ground from the switch Lt blue and black wires with an ohm meter. You know the wiper motor is good because it cycles with the washer circuit.

Oldcutlass, you were spot on. Ground strap was disconnected and not working. Fixed the strap. The wipers worked. After several minutes the wipers stopped. Ground was fine, switch went bad. Replaced switch and all is working well.

While I was up in the dash, I replaced the dash lights with leds. What a difference. Thanks so much for your help and direction.
