Volt gauge not working after new battery installed

Hey guys, have the trio summit gauges in my 76 olds. With the old battery in after charging the volt gauge worked, hooked up to the old oil pressure wire.

Installed my new warranty Interstate battery now the gauge doesn't work.

I checked the fuses they seem ok but my eyes are not the best anymore, pfffft, even with my new glasses.

Any ideas guys? Should I tap into a different wire?

Oh btw new Interstate battery is $202.00 holy chit!!!

The old oil pressure wire is looking for a ground to light a light. Use a different wire, perhaps the radio or something that turns off with the key.

Thanks Eric,
I was thinking about switching it to the key buzzer thing on the fire wall, I'm getting tired of hearing the buzz sound when I put the key in the ignition with the door open.
I just don't know why it would stop working all of a sudden just due to a battery change.
It kinda stumped me.
The lighting works on all gauges so I'm thinking the ground is Ok, I'm not much of an electrical guy.
Do you think switching the wire to the key buzzer would be fine?

Eric

The problem with using the old oil sender wire is that its the negative side to a light bulb. The voltage you were measuring is through that light bulb filament. You may have burned out the oil lamp on the dash is why it quit working. All you need is a keyed source for the volt meter, you can tap into anything outside of the lighting circuit for that.

Just plug the voltmeter wire into the IGN tap on the fuse block.

Thanks for the help again guys, I will run the wire to the fuse box IGN . Have been really sick since Saturday so as soon as I'm better I'll rerun the wire.
Cheers
Eric
