Turn signal switch and steering column
Hi everybody
I just joined and This I s my first post...I’m attempting to replace my turn
signal switch on my 67 Olds 442. I have got as far as removing the wheel and the old switch but now I’m stuck! My question is how do I get the steering column over off?
in the picture there is kind of a plate on the column shaft that seems to rotate a little but I can’t figure out whether it un-screws? Or just pulls off?
then and need to figure out how to get the new wiring harness run down inside the column cover? Or could I cut and splice?
any help or advice would be very much appreciated
Thanks

why do you want to take the column off if you are replacing the turn signal switch ? on a 71, the turn signal harness runs done inside the column in a sleeve and you unplug it at the bottom of the column. Perhaps the same with yours ?

is there a c ring or snap ring that is holding that plate on ?.
I have done all of this on a 71, so don't want to misguide you, but is probably similar.
Do you have a chassis manual for your car ?.
That and the assembly manual were the best investments I made and extremely helpful.

Ding ding ding! You win! And did you use string or wire to pull the new one back down through the column?
