Turn signal switch?

While going thru somethings on the car I noticed once I clicked the turn signal to the left it didnt blink and wont undo after you make the turn and the indicator on the dash just stays lit green. So my question is do I replace the lever, or the turn signal switch in the column?

From: Edmonton, AB. And "I am Can 'eh' jun - eh"
2 things.
First if the signal stays green and doesn't blink you have a burned out bulb in that circuit. Check front/rear while signal should be working.

Second if the turn indicator won't return to normal your turn signal cancel cam in the column needs replacing.

Failure to blink indicates a BOB - Burned Out Bulb.

Failure to cancel is usually a broken or missing cancel spring, easy fix once you get to it

So what are the odds of the springs being just out of place when I open it? Can't I just put the old ones back in? Or what if the plastic housing broke on the switch, is the switch an easy job?

The odds are 55/45 that it just popped out.

New ones are dirt cheap

The switch is a bit more involved, you have to snake the wiring out

[tape a wire to it first to snake the new one back thru with]

And dig fairly deep but not much beyond that required to get at the return spring. You will need the lock plate compressor [free borrow at your local store], and some QUALITY pick tools like snap-on make the circlip removal easier.
