Turn signal stays on

Turn signal does not blink on and off for both directional’s. I checked all the fuses and bulbs. The flashers work fine.

I recently converted to HEI so I was under the dash using the IGN 12v supply for the distributor but the signals worked after that. I did accidentally hit the IGN 12v wire on the firewall when the key was on and got a spark but the signals worked after that.

They seem to work intermittently it depends on the day.

Thoughts?

Did you REALLY check all the bulbs?

What about the sockets?

An intermittent like this is a classic for a corroded socket or bad ground.

There are 2 signal flasher units under the dash. One is for your 4 ways, the other for turn signals. It's probably that!

They are round, approx 1 1/4 inch in diameter and 1 1/2 inches tall. They hang from the wire harness and have a 3 or 4 wire plug attatched to it. On some cars they plug directly into the fuse box.
