"Super Torque Coil" in stock housing
My starter guy is rebuilding a core for me. He offered a Super Torque coil that he could get for it. Said it made it really powerful. Also said it could torque the nose off with a low CCA supply from a small and/or low battery.
Anyone have experience with these?

I think the super torque coils would be fine and I don't think the nose would break if using them. Will you be using a starter support brace? The super torque coils are a little less expensive than the 387 coils and the super are a lot easier to install. The 387 coils have two shunt coils with one side of each being grounded and the other side of each going to the field lead that goes to the solenoid. That is 4 extra wires to attach and route. Take note of the threaded hole on the side of the field case. If you are using this, the super coils may be under the hole and if the bolt you put in is any deeper than the thickness of the case it may ground out the fields.

I'll be adding the "heat shield" bracket that uses that hole. Does the brain trust remember the specs on the bolts used for it?
