Strange, Strange Electrical Problem Or Exorcism Required?

On my 72, when the key is in the run position, if I turn my AM radio on, the GEN light on my gauges illuminates! I turn the radio off and the light goes off. Anyone ever have this happen before? I’m sure something is hooked up wrong I just don’t know what it could be!

I don’t know the layout of a 72 dashboard well enough, but I had a similar problem in my ‘66 big cars.

When I would turn on the headlights, it looked like the generator light was on.

Turned out the old foam gasket between the dash peanut lights and the generator light lens was completely gone. It wasn’t and electrical problem, just light bleed over from the gauge illumination light into the generator lense…

I would opt for exorcism. A little excitement never hurt.

The Devil has been successfully cast out! The horn relay was not tight against the firewall. Must have been some weird grounding issue I’d never understand.

The only issue with the horn relay being loose would be a rattle, power comes from the junction point and grounds are hard wires supplied by the devices that operate the horns and minders.
