I have a rally wheel in my 69 Cutlass and all was well with the horn at one time. I removed the wheel while re-centering it and don't remember how the spring and plunger go. I have attached a rather pathetic sketch.

If I install it like #1 the plunger just drops all the way in. If I do it like #2, which seems more logical, the plunger sticks out to far to install horn center cap and it won't seat all the way.
When I 1st installed the wheel about a year ago all was well, It's really frustrating that I can't get it right. Any help is appreciated.

I just installed one on my 68 sport wheel the other day, #2 is the way mine works. maybe the pin is too long and needs to be trimmed

 

I am a total dope! I didn't have the wheel on before trying to install the horn button piece. I took it apart again yesterday and when putting it back together had an AHA moment.
