If one of them is Purple, that is the one.

Purple to the S terminal for the starter.
Yellow to the R terminal for the direct coil feed.

How many ways would you like us to say it?

Yes purple is Start
Usually fatter [more current carried]

You can remember what "R" is for by its function- "R"esistor bypass. Runs directly to the input side of the coil.

And for the advanced class, you can remember what "S" is for by its function- "S"tart.

that doesnt help me because I needed the color of the wire and I cant see their color on the solenoid and don't feel like pulling my starter off this is why I asked the question, but hey thanks for the sarcasm and please don't bother posting on any of my threads in the future.

Thanks so much for your assistance. I hope I can one day return the favor when I have expertise that others need. I didn't realize that the color wiring diagram was readily available for free at wildaboutcars.com! I will rely on that first for future questions. I hope I was not too much trouble.

In the good ole days the solenoid was marked with an "S" and an "R". the parts I've seen the last few years do not have those markings any longer near the threaded post.

It says that on your battery too?

I thought it said it on mine because it was a POS.
(I'm a cheap SOB).

Anyway, I will be sure never to tell anyone that the START circuit is the purple wire, as that information (aside from being obvious to anyone who's ever cracked a CSM) is useless and not at all helpful.

I always thought R meant run terminal, as it makes the engine run w/ key in start position.
MD, feel free to respond to my posts with all the sarcasm you want. You are always helpful and I can appreciate a fellow smart a#$.

Not to be gratuitously jerky, but: Am I missing something, or is this a serious problem of comprehension?
