Specific Kit to Rebuild Alternator? '68 4-4-2
Hey all, I'm going to rebuild an alternator I bought from a member here on CO. It is the correct PN, 1100777, 55Amp, alternator for my ride. I read through a bunch of related threads in the Electrical section, but could not find any specific info. Is there a specific version of rebuild kit I need to buy? Or are all the parts in a typical kit used for pretty much any/all alternators? Is my OEM alternator a 10DN?

I "think" your '68 Alternator is a 10DN (ext VR) whereas the 10SI (system integrated) would be an internal VR. Notice I did say "think".
I rebuilt a couple ALTs quite some years ago. Not all the kits are the same. So many of them out there be careful you purchase the correct one.
I did notice this listing which looks promising and the seller appears to be knowledgeable regarding information listed. They even have select dated diodes available - that's a bonus.

Here's a good thread...actually there are other good threads on the 1100777 ALT, as well.
Joe P said he likes to use Standard. I'd have to agree I've been very happy using Standard Motor Products.

Thanks, Norm, I appreciate your chiming in. It is definitely an external VR. I'll check out the links you provided.
[Later... I'm surprised I missed the link on the 1100777 rebuild you provided. I guess I didn't wade deep enough, or use the right terms in my search. - thx!]
