RMP Gauge

Just wondering if anyone has put an RPM gauge in their cluster where the clock goes? My ‘71 S car doesn’t have a clock and I don’t want a clock in there so I was thinking of putting an RMP gauge in there.

I had an instrument shop make a tach from a clock.

They copied the font and pointer of the speedo.

It fits and looks like the factory might have done it.

Yes, that is a very common modification which many of us have done over the years - I did this to my car back in the 80s. A standard aftermarket tach such as a Sun SuperTach will fit into the opening. Do a search and you will find numerous threads with pictures of the installs.

FYI - RPM, not RMP
revolutions per minute

Often measured by a "tachometer".
