right rear brake light and turn signal not working

Ok. So i went around my 72 cutlass and replaced all the light bulbs. I was hoping the right rear tail light would function when I hit the brakes, use right blinker but to no luck. when I turn the lights on the lights do come on. The brake light was working months ago but has since stopped. reading another link it said the green wire is for stopping and turn signal so i plan on checking that as well including the wiring harness as I have a lot of parts in my trunk and may have hit something loose.

I also noticed while replacing the bulbs the top bulb receiver was quite finicky and i busted the old bulb trying to remove it. It just didnt seem to unlock as easy and when i put new bulb in it really didnt feel like it should when you depress and twist to lock bulb in place.

thanks for the help.

First you need to determine if the contact has voltage. That filament (contact) works for both the brake and directionals.

Many times the springs under the socket contacts don’t extend and the bulb doesn’t light. Cleaning the gunk down in there or replacing the springs may be necessary. An interim fix is to reach behind the light housing and push the wires into the socket so contact is made.

if there is no power at the turn signal socket, start working forward from the trunk.

Unplug the taillight harness in the truck, check for power on the green wire, when pushing the brake and with the turn signal on. No power? Keep moving forward.

Check for power at the green wire at the turn signal switch, when pushing the brake, and then with the turn signal on. If there is no power, replace the turn signal switch.
