repop wiring?

Is there a source for new wires in the original olds wiring colors? Or is used the only option? I'm needing to replace a few under the dash going to the headlight switch.

There are various manufacturers and distributors. Look for GXL or TXL jacketed wire in the desired color.
Most factory plugs are Packard 56 style terminals. Get a Delphi style crimper for best results.

I would get with M & H or Ron Francis and see if they can help you. If they don't have what you need, I bet they can point you in the right direction.

The original color wiring diagrams are contained in the applicable year Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual (CSM).

Here is the URL for the 1971 A-Body wiring diagram >>> 1971 Original GM Oldsmobile CSM Wiring Diagram A Body "V-8"

Wire gauge/color are readily identifiable. Don't let specific shades of colors weight you down - colors fade over the years. Lowe's/Home Depot sell rolls of specific gauge wire in many different colors.

Use your Browser to zoom/blow up the diagram...rather simple. Good Luck...don't overthink it. If need be, d/l the diagram, print it out. Helpful if you have a handheld magnifying glass.

I had very good luck with “Lectrical Limited” for Automotive wiring and components.

I've used Dell City, also. Have a nice selection of Packard 56 connector housings &/or terminals. You can purchase one, two several, etc. instead of having to buy say 50.

I recommend M&H for factory, original replacement. If you want modern, blade style fuses and extra circuits to add a few modern features like electric fuel pump, electric fans, power windows, etc. I had a great experience with American Auto Wire kit #510645. This kit mostly follows the factory wire colors and has very clear instructions. Another nice feature of this kit is the wires are labeled the full length to identify their function.
