Question - Blinkers

#1 On my 72 Cutlass when my headlights are off both of my blinkers work correctly but when I turn on my headlights my right blinker will light up but bot flash. My left blinker will flash normally with headlights on or off.

#2 I broke my emergency blinker switch off when I replaced my steering wheel. How to I go about fixing this?

I have had these issues for a while and im tired of having to manually flash the right blinker at night to give the illusion that it works properly.

Thanks in advance, Mike

#1, check for a burned out filament in one of the RH turn signal bulbs.

#2, the hazard warning switch is part of the turn signal switch. If the plastic part that the **** screws into is broken, you have to replace the whole switch.

Maybe the sockets too ? , my 72 CS does the same thing . In the beginning both blinker lights would stay illuminated when I had headlights on and you had to manually click blinkers up and down for them to work (lights on or off ), replaced bulbs ( ALL ) and the little round blinker relay switch under dash , but blinkers would never blink on there own even with the headlights off , but at least they were no longer illuminated when the headlights were on....sometimes they would blink on there own with headlights off , but real slow.....they still do this today , sockets have corrosion in them.

I will check the sockets and bulbs. Wouldn't the the blinker not flash at all if the bulb was bad. If I turn my right turn signal on and turn head lights off it will start flashing if I turn the head lights back on it quits flashing. So daytime driving everything is normal.

Sorry, brain fade.

What I SHOULD have said is that the ground might be bad.

The 1157 bulbs have two filaments with a common ground. If the ground is bad (either through a corroded socket or a bad housing ground) the turn signal will ground through the parking light filament. With the headlights (and thus the parking lights) on, the turn signal can no longer ground that way, so it doesn't work. I suspect that your parking light on that side doesn't work either when the turn signal is off.
