Question about wire order gauge connector

Finally putting the dash back in and in the process of moving all the wires around to get my hands up there, some of the wires came out of the connector to the pins on the rear of the fuel/alternator.. etc. gauge, and the speedometer. I have a wiring diagram, but the wires still in the clip aren't in the same order as the diagram. Does anyone know which wires are supposed to go where, or is this going to be a trial and error process?

Thanks,

Trial and error could bring in some extra headaches.
A factory manual AND wiring diagram would help best, but if you do not have both now, this might help ID the colors and where they go:
http://www.442.com/oldsfaq/ofmsc.htm...bodyConversion

Here is what i found there for the STD cluster:
a = lights (grey) / b = temp (dk dreen) / c = oil (blue w wht stripes) / d = fuel (tan) / e = ign (pink) / f = generator (brown) / g = brake (tan w white stripes)
