Question Positive Battery Cable Problem, Need Help

just found out that my positive battery cable lead was resting against the manifold due to some shotty wiring from the guy before me.. now the wire is exposed in some parts with corrosion on the wire..
what would you guys recommend to get rid of corrosion and what tape should i re-wrap the cable in??

thanks in advance for the help

I would buy a new cable at the auto parts store, pretty cheap insurance to do it right.

I had the same problem last week. I am working on a rebuild and my hot lead visibly looked ok but internally was rusted out causing poor connection to my starter which in turn was causing my starter to not crank. I replaced the hot lead with a 10 dollar napa auto parts cable and my starter fired right up.

X2 - chased a problem for 6 months, and it was a corroded positive cable, due to unhooked engine grounds!!
Cheap!!
