If you change to an HEI distributor (66 442) can you use the OEM tach with no issues?

 

Yes. Just remove the tach wire from the original coil and connect it to the TACH terminal on the HEI distributor cap. You'll need to replace the terminal on the wire with a female spade terminal that fits the cap.
