neutral safety switch wiring
neutral safety switch wiring
hello, i am doing my conversion from column shift to console shift on my 1968 442. i have finally got the neutral safety switch and the wiring. my question is, where can i plug the female connectors (purple wires) from the neutral safety switch from the shifter console?.. or can i just plug it to the existing neutral safety switch of the existing steering column? help!!!
On my 69 the console wiring (neutral safety and back-up lights) connect to the same connectors that went to the switch on the column. In other words, unplug the switch on the column, plug in the console switches.

As noted, the factory console harness has a jumper in it that plugs into the NSS connectors under the dash and runs to the NSS on the shifter for the 1968 cars.
Well, the switch on the column won't be connected to the linkage anymore, so plugging into that won't do a lot for you...

The connector on the column is the one I'm talking about. Unplug from the column NSS and plug that same connector into the console harness. Same thing for the green backup light wires, by the way.
hi joe, im following your leads and im about to do it sometimes this week. as you stated, wires (purple) from column nss need to be connected to the console harness. wirings have female connectors (spade type) on both end, is there a jumper that i can use to connect them? or should i cut from each end and use connectors? also, ive taken some pictures while im doing the conversion, (column to console),i would like to post them when im done. needs instructions on how to load pictures....thank you
