neutral safety switch problem

I picked up a 1967 cutlass that has a 455 and th400 swapped in place of the 330 and two speed auto. It has a column shift lever. The neutral safety switch tests out as working but neutral on the th400 isn't in the same lever position as the two speed. I have searched for a switch that will work with the th400 but keep coming up with the stock part#. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

The positions on the indicator are going to be different as you have a 3spd trans on a 2spd indicator. Park and neutral should be in the same place as the 2spd. As long as the car starts in neutral/ park and does not start in any of the forward gears or reverse, its doing what its suppose to do.

Thank you for your reply. The starts in park but will not start in neutral. If I move the shifter between reverse and neutral (actual transmission position, not the indicator on the dash) it will start and move backward. I must have a linkage issue to figure out. Thanks for your help. Any idea where I might find a 3 speed gear indicator to pop into the dash?

If that does not work, PM me and when I get back to Dallas I will look through my notes on the 64 Pro-Touring build. I had the indicator for a 2004-R on the column and it fit right in where the 2 speed junk-away- it was originally for a 69 Nova, but then decided on a B@M Pro shifter and blacked out the indicator above the steering column. I also if need be , I have the new Lokar neutral safety switch and the rod for the column shift put away. Its all brand new just changed my mind-Robski

He should not need any new linkage. The existing should work fine with some minor adjustments.

The shift gate that controls the position of the shift lever is part of the steering column. You need to change this to a three speed shift gate for this to work properly. The switch doesn't change, it's the position of the shift lever. You might be able to finesse this by adjusting the linkage between the column and the trans.
