Need to get my power windows down (hot wire?)
Hi Guys,
I'm a bit of an electrical idiot yet have not melted anything in years.
I have a '68 442 with power windows...car is trashed, harness is a bit of a mess. Is there a way I can apply power directly to the power windows so I can roll down all the windows? I have the switches and the PW harness seems to be in tact. The under hood harness has been screwed over here and there.
any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks Eric.
Now for the really dumb question- what is the best way to power up the PW harness solo?
Can I simply take car battery and run clips directly to pw wire and then ground to frame? I've made some interesting electrical blunders in the past...just making sure this wont be another one.
Thanks again for the help.

Take the wire off of the hot side of the circuit breaker.
Connect the positive battery terminal to the terminal of the circuit breaker with a fairly heavy wire (at least 12ga).
Connecti the negative battery terminal to a good ground.
The windows or the top should work.
( I recall that the full size cars had a relay to switch on the widows only with the ignition on, but I don't recall where in the circuit it was located).
