Map Light Question '69 442 Convertible

I am trying to sort out my interior lights, and have a question:
My map light switch does not seem to work, and in the picture attached there is a male spade on switch. Is this a ground?
Problem is when I manually ground the switch, it still does not turn on.

Currently my interior lights work this way:
When doors open, all lights come on.(2 under dash, 2 rear, map light).
When doors closed, I turn headlight switch to left, only 2 rear lights works.
Should all lights come on with the headlight switch?
Map light switch does nothing any time.
Thanks.

Well, I'll start by telling you how the lights work on my '68 4-4-2 convertible. When opening the door, the map light, the front interior side lights, and the back two interior side lights all come on. With the door closed, when I put the headlight switch all the way to the left, only the back two interior side lights come on. With the headlight switch centered and I turn on the map light, it comes on along with the two front interior side lights. With that on and putting the headlight switch all the way to the left, the map light and interior front side lights stay on and the two rear interior side lights come on.

Hope that helps for starters!

Thank You,
It looks like all is OK but the map light switch. If the spade is a ground, I'm not sure why it does not work when I directly ground it??

I'm not sure what that spade is for. I've never had my light/switch assembly out of the dash. I'm thinking that the assembly is already grounded to the dash frame through the screws that hold it in place and that the only wires going to it are the orange and white ones.

Looks like I need to find a ground jumper. Found the diagram in the Assembly Manual.
It's a short wire that plugs on to the spade, and the other end grounds on the dash.
I'll start there.
Thanks

You need that ground wire because the light screws into plastic = no ground. It will work with the other lights because it grounds through the door switch (white wire).

I can see in the pic that the ML switch connects the L end of the bulb and its white wire to the ground tab, so if that tab is not grounded, then the switch can't lite that bulb or the related connected lamps.

You are almost there! Easy fix.

Upon further investigation, the ground wire was there in place, already.
Plugged wire in spade, cleaned bulb and switch contacts, all is good as new!

Your 12/2015 post

Hi, you said that you plugged wire in spade? Re map light. Please clarify. I have the jumper ground. It's connected to switch end but spade is hanging loose and I don't know where it goes. Thx tim
