HVAC Fan issue 69 442

My heater fan stays on with the switch in off position. The switch does switch speeds low thru high. Could the fan switch be bad or some other cause.
Thanks,
Mike

This was a purposeful feature of the " Astro- Ventilation system ". Developed after the elimination of the vent windows in the front doors.
Perfectly normal operation .

Not on the 69 A-body cars. RPO C57 Forced Air Body Ventilation was a very rare option on the 1969 2drs. I've never seen one myself. The C57 blowers are separate from the HVAC blower motor and have a separate control switch to turn them off and on. This is from the 1969 owner's manual:

Most likely cause is a stuck high speed blower relay if the car has A/C. Sugar Bear is asking the correct question.

Yes, its an A/C car I will try replacing the high speed blower relay.

While I think the relay is the most likely cause, unless you have money to throw away, you might want to try some no-cost troubleshooting BEFORE throwing parts at the car. First thing to do is to disconnect the high speed fuse on the driver side inner fender. The fan should stop. Now try the lower speeds. If none of them work that increases the likelihood that the problem is the relay. As a final check, disconnect the wires from the relay and jumper the purple wire to the blue one. The fan should work normally on all speeds except HIGH. If this is the case, it's definitely the relay. If not, there is another problem.
