Hello iam trying to restore my steering wheel on my oldsmobile 1959 88 and i cant get the horn buttons to work i dident have a 5mm Cooper pin so i used a 6mm and drilled the hole in the steering wheel to 6mm and i soldered a wire to it and connected it to the buttons i dont know if a 6mm pin is to big or so when i put the steering wheel on it grounds and the horn sound all the time. Iam not sure how to connect the buttons anyone know?

I'm ignorant on 59 stuff but have you checked to see of it is indeed shorting out at the pin and not at the rubber insulator on the bottom? If it indeed even has a insulator like the earlier cars. What does your manual show, should be a diagram showing a breakdown of parts...... Just guessing.... Tedd
