Headlight switch trouble

Can somene tell me what im doing wrong!!!! I have a 1966 oldsmobile 442 I had to replace the headlight switch. I had no problem removing the old one .Bot the new one i cant get it to tighten down ive been trying for 3 days . could someone tell me what im doing wrong. Thanks Tom

Nope.

Have you compared the two switches to be sure that they are identical, and that the attaching nut in fact does thread into the front of the switch?

Yes I did compare them . I even try to reinstall the old one. Lve checked to make sure the threads arnt stripped. I thought this would be an easy repair . Tom

Other than "something's not lining up" or "the little stabilizing tongue is not engaging the groove," I really don't know what to say.

You'll figure it out, though.

Have you verified that the retaining nut actually tightens in the new switch with it out of the car? If not, the new switch is defective.

If the new switch is BRAND NEW and Chinese, I advise you to refurbish the original or get a used original.


Nothing FITS and WORKS like GM original parts.


I bet an NOS one is available.
