Ground strap 69 Cutlass S convertible 350

I’m almost finished wiring my 69 Cutlass S. It’s got the original 350.
MSD electronic 6A ignition and Dakota Digital gauges.

Besides the frame to block and battery to block where do the other ground wires go. Is there a list in my CSM book or do I just search through the wiring diagrams?

Does the Dakota Digital box ground to the metal dash?

There is a head-to-firewall ground strap. It attaches from the passenger side upper rear of that head and is kind of hard to get to with the engine installed but it can be done. See manual section 12 page 139 of the assembly manual.

You should check your distributor and gauge cluster manufacturer's specifications. They might have guidance on grounding as well.

Indeed, correct. In addition to what Randy has already stated there is a separate wire from the (-) battery terminal to the front fender/radiator shroud post. Ground wires for the engine dress are located in Section 12 pages 131, 132 & 139 of the 1969 PIM (Product Information Manual) which is sometimes referred to as the Factory Assembly Manual. One additional exterior ground cable is located at the rear of the frame for the fuel tank ground. The remaining ground straps/cables are located inside the vehicle dash assembly. Therefore, w/ regards to external grounds I believe you have battery (-) terminal to front fender fan shroud post, battery (-) terminal to engine block, engine (rear) head to firewall & frame to fuel tank.

Digital assembly manuals

Y’all keep referencing the assembly manual. I have purchased two of them and they’re both poor quality copies. Very hard to read.

Is there a digital version out there somewhere that is easy to read?

Good paper copies are difficult to come by. One CO member who has excellent paper copies is CO member Hairy Olds. I don't own a paper copy of the 1969 PIM/FAM. I own a 1971 paper copy (for my vehicle) which I purchased from Hairy Olds. Hairy Olds has sold various copies to other CO members and from I gather he always delivers excellent products. He recently advertised availability of a 1969 Factory Assembly Manual. I'll provide the link below. I suggest you reach out to Hairy Olds. He may see this post since I'm going to embed his CO member name. His copies are excellent.

You can also find excellent copies on Wild About Cars. With a $35/year membership you have access to a plethora of pertinent documentation. I'll provide that link, as well.
Automotive History Preservation Society is the actual name of the Wild About Cars Online website.

Oooops...I provided you the link for Hairy Olds and I read the post too fast. I thought it was for the FAM but instead he has a 1969 Oldsmobile Engine Assembly Manual (reprint) available. In any case, reach out to Hairy Olds for the PIM/FAM.

Is there a frame to block ground wire on a 1969 Cutlass as lala5818 originally posted? I have a 1969 Cutlass Supreme and have never seen one nor do I see it in the previous CSM pages. Is my car missing it?
